Day 35: Checking for Lice

Checking for lice is a very important thing that needs to be done before every hair cut or color given. If the client does have lice it is then illegal to give that person any services. Checking for lice can be done in a discrete manner, and does not need to be announced. These are easy ways to check for lice.

  • Have a comb handy and part the hair down the center of the head
  • Then part the hair at the bottom
  • Then part the hair at the crown across the top of the head
  • When the hair is parted in each hair then check the roots of the hair for any lice, if you see none, move to the next parting
Warnings that someone may have lice:
  • itchy head
  • quickly developing oily roots
  • appearances of dandruff-like white flakes in the hair
  • if someone they know and is close to has lice, it is possible for them to get it too.
