There are several reasons and different ways to section off hair for different things. Curling your hair will need to be sectioned differently then say, a hair cut. Today I will be explaining sectioning off hair for shaping.
Four Section Parting:
Part hair down the center from forehead to nape, and also across the head from ear to ear. Pin up the four sections and leave nape hair to us as a guide.
Five Section Parting:
Part the hair across the crown from ear to ear; then to sub-divide the hair in the same order.
