Day 53: Final Presentation

The end of the year is approaching and I am now going to begin deciding how I want to do my presentation for this independent study. I need to present in front of a few people, my advisor and two other community members. I can invite students or other teachers to my presentation. What I need to do between now and then is start making posters, to place around the school as advertising. Talking my advisor, and find a  time they can attend. Invite the other community members so that they can judge my final presentation. I also need to spend some time looking at what I want to present. At the beginning of the semester I wanted to present a few quick cute hair styles, I was thinking about ten of them. Now I need to get to practicing, find a model and deciding the final hairstyles I would like to present.
I may get together with my mother or step mom and talk to them about any suggestions on what I should present to the class.

Day 52: Color Correction

Sometimes when someone is coloring your hair it doesn't turn out the way you want it. That could be for any number of things, sometimes because they colorist mixed the colors incorrectly. Other times because the hair dye is old or the wrong color was used! Sadly, this happens a lot of the time, but can be fixed if done properly! The term used for fixing a wrong hair color is Color Correction.
The color is corrected in different ways depending on the color the hair is, and the color you want the hair to be. This takes some people years and years of schooling and practice to master. There are even people that only do work in the line of color corrections, because they have learned to master it so well.

Since I can not study this all on my own, I will not be going in too deep learning about this for now. I am going to wait until Cosmetology school, when a professional can teach me how you go about fixing a color properly, so that I do not get any wrong ideas in my head.

Day 50: Wedding Hair Styles

Every woman looks forward to her big day, where she walks down the aisle to the person they love, to spend the rest of their days together. She will be in the perfect dress, walking by her favorite flowers, everything about the day is just perfect, including her hair. A beautiful dress is great, unless you don't have the hair to match it! Woman plan their wedding days for months, sometimes years, and the hair is a big deal. Here are some ideas for a picture perfect wedding do.

The prom prep for hair applies to wedding hair as well, May also include a hair cut.

Day 49: Prom Day Prep

There are many things a girl needs to do before her prom day, a lot of prep work goes into that one night. Here are the things she needs to do for her locks, keeping them perfect.

  • If curling your hair, at all, curl stays better in dirty hair, which sadly means that you must not wash your hair for a few days before curling it.
  • Make sure you use a heat protecting product when styling your hair for that day.
  • Throughout the day more hair spray may need to be added, to insure nothing to come out of place.
  • When you wash your hair out, don't try to brush through it first. Just take the bobby pins and rubber bands and accessories out, then shampoo and condition like normal. With all the hair spray you will most likely have on your hair, brushing it out will cause A LOT of breakage.
  • I suggest using a conditioning treatment the last time before doing your hair, and right after you take your hair out. All the tangles and such can cause a lot of damage, especially to dyed or bleached hair.
  • If you need to dye your hair for the prom, make sure you do it a week or so before, dying your hair does damage it, but you don't want to do it too soon in advance or it will fade, or possibly show your roots

Day 48: Prom Hair

Since it is around Prom time, I decided to take a look at many different hair styles that are worn during the prom season!

Day 47: Bleached Hair Tips

Bleached hair can have a lot of issues, bleaching literally rips the pigment out of your hair, leaving it damaged. There are several  things you need to do to help save your blonde hair from breaking off and looking stringy.

Tips to Keeping Golden Locks:

  • Use heat tools as minimal as possible, and when they are used also apply a thermal protecting product
  • Always use  a wide toothed comb to minimize breakage
  • Washing your hair dries it out, so wash as little as possible
  • Once a week use a conditioning treatment on your hair or use a strong shampoo and conditioner specialized for dry damaged hair
  • To keep the hair from turning slightly yellow, buy a purple shampoo, this will keep the hair as light as possible
  • Avoid well water and chlorine pools, the well water will turn your hair an orange rusty color over time, and the chlorine with tint it green
  • If your natural hair color is much different than a blonde, get your roots touched up often to avoid dark roots

Day 46: Red Hair Secrets

Red Hair is very popular these days, but not at all easy to maintain.Red hair comes with many secrets and tricks to maintain the color and avoid it fading to an unwanted orange or copper color. These tips can be used on any shade of red hair from bright fire red to a deep cherry red.

Tips:

  • Wash hair with cold water, the warm water will drain the color out
  • purchase a special shampoo and conditioner, either for red hair or just for colored hair
  • Stay away from heat products, it can fade the color faster. If it is necessary to use heat tools on your hair use a thermal protecting product
  • Shampoo is your new enemy, shampoo can easily strip color so shampoo less, and condition more!
  • The water supply you have can also aid the fading process, stay away from chlorine additives in your showers by purchasing a special shower head
  • Stay away from swimming pools (chlorine)
